People’s war in the Philippines continues, says study

Borne out of fundamental social problems, the protracted people’s war in the Philippines continues according to a July 2023 study published by ACLED (Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project), a US-based non-profit organization monitoring conflicts worldwide.

PH groups decry use of people’s taxes for 'intelligence funds’, construction of US military bases

Philippine lawmakers and progressive people's organizations raised alarm over the use of the people's money for so-called ‘confidential and intelligence funds’ (CIF) principally for the operations of the office of the president and vice-president during the national budget deliberations in Congress last 3 August. In addition, the people's taxes are also being used to fund the construction of infrastructures needed by US military bases in the Philippines.

CNL-Negros holds second congress

Revolutionary priests, pastors, clergy, and devoted members of the Church recently convened on Negros Island for the second congress of the local chapter of Christians for National Liberation (CNL). The congress formulated CNL-Negros’ activities through a regional tactical plan, and elected Ericson Buglas as its chairperson.

Maharlika Investment Fund - biggest source of corruption in country’s history, says CPP

In a statement last 19 July, the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) denounced the Marcos Jr. regime for signing the Maharlika Investment Fund and described this as the “single biggest source of corruption in the country’s history” by the Marcos regime.

CPP rejects Marcos Jr’s ‘treacherous offer of amnesty’

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) vigorously opposed the Marcos Jr’s fake offer of amnesty. The regime’s chief executive, in a speech before the Philippine Congress 24 July, 2023, announced that he will be issuing an amnesty proclamation for all who will give up the Filipino people’s revolutionary armed struggle.

‘US-Marcos regime has made clear its contempt for peace’ – CPP

“Throughout its first year in office, the US-Marcos Jr regime has made clear its blatant contempt for peace negotiations with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines,” said the Communist Party of the Philippines in a statement released by Ang Bayan, the CPP’s official publication.
