A series of brutal killings and abductions perpetrated by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) were documented by Ang Bayan, the official news organ of the Communist Party of the Philippines.

CPP: NPA offensives demonstrate ‘robust armed resistance’ to state terror

The recent string of successful tactical offensives and punitive actions conducted by the New People’s Army (NPA) and the people's militias in many regions across the Philippines “clearly demonstrate the robust armed resistance…against all-out state terrorism” according to Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) Chief Information Officer Marco Valbuena.

NDFP assails Marcos regime’s confidential and intelligence funds

In a statement published 28 September, Malaya Asedillo, Spokesperson for the National Democratic Front of the Philippines - Laguna (NDFP-Laguna) assailed the Marcos Jr regime for including huge confidential and intelligence funds, P5.277 billion and P4.864 billion, respectively, in the 2024 national budget while slashing funds for social services and the needs of the public.

NTF-Elcac ‘shot itself in the foot’ in its own presser on 2 missing envi activists

The 19 September press conference of the NTF-Elcac (National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict) seemingly backfired after two previously missing environmental activists were presented to the public as ‘surrenderees’ only to reveal that they had been abducted and tortured by the military. The statements of environmental activists Jonila Castro and Jhed Tamano at the press conference caught the NTF-Elcac off guard who immediately deleted the live feed from their Facebook account.

Sara Duterte's P125M 'confidential funds' questioned

House Deputy Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Partylist Representative France Castro questioned Vice President Sara Duterte’s P125 million ($7.1 million) confidential funds. According to documents from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the Office of the Vice President (OVP) spent the said money in just a period of 19 days.

GRP suffers heavy losses amid bluster to ‘defeat NPA’ within Marcos Jr term

The US-Marcos regime recently incurred heavy losses after a series of tactical offensives launched by the New People’s Army (NPA) in Sultan Kudarat, Mindanao and in Quezon Province, Southern Tagalog in the last two months. This is despite recent remarks made by the GRP’s National Security Adviser Eduardo Año claiming that the GRP will ‘defeat the NPA’ within Marcos Jr’s term.

Groups alarmed over rising cases of forced disappearances under Marcos Jr

Human rights groups trooped the Manila Court of Appeals calling to surface missing activists in commemoration of the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearance last 30 August. Led by the group Desaparacidos (organization of families and friends of the disappeared), families and friends of victims sounded alarm over the increasing cases of enforced disappearances under the Marcos administration.
