The National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) in a statement last 13 July 2023 condemned the Marcos II government over its recent ‘red-tagging frenzy’ against human rights defenders and activists in the Philippines.

NPA belies declaration of ‘insurgency-free zone’ in Quezon

The New People’s Army (NPA)-North Quezon refuted the recent declaration of the Quezon provincial government that the province is “insurgency free”. Eliza “Ka Eli” dela Guerra, spokesperson of the NPA unit, said in the 23 June, 2023, that this declaration is only to pave way to the destructive and rapacious projects in the province.

Groups decry profiling of ACT teachers: ‘An attempt to silence their voices’

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) in a recent statement denounced the profiling operations of the Manila government’s Department of Education (DepEd) against its members as clear violation of their rights and a direct attack meant to ‘silence their voices.’

CPP: Fausto massacre exposes US-Marcos regime war vs Filipino people

A poor peasant family of four were massacred by fascist troops of the Armed Forces of the Philippines last 15 June. Rolly Fausto, 50; his wife Emilda, 49, and their two children, Ben, 15 and Raben, 11, were killed at their residence in Sitio Kangkiling, Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental in central Philippines. The four other Fausto children were not home when the massacre happened.

Wyeth workers, supporters fight back against mass lay-off

Members of Wyeth Philippines Progressive Workers’ Union (WPPWU) and their supporters mounted a series of mass protests and other activities to demand the reinstatement of 140 workers who were illegally dismissed by Wyeth-Nestlé Philippines on 18 May, 2023 and five other workers who were fired earlier, reported Ang Bayan, official organ of the Communist Party of the Philippines, on 7 June 2023.

CPP: Oppose US military pre-positioning in Calayan Island

Highlighting US military build-up in the Asia Pacific region, Communist Party of the Philippines Chief Information Officer Marco Valbuena cited the 25 hectares of land in Calayan island, northernmost Philippines which was recently acquired by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) last 8 June 2023. According to Valbuena, the said land, which was donated by the local municipality, will allow the US to deploy its armed forces and military hardware in Calayan island.

Fake ‘surrenders,’ torture and secret detention persist under Marcos Jr. regime

Marco Valbuena, Chief Information Officer of the Communist Party of the Philippines declared that: “Like many of so-called ‘surrenderees’ who are presented publicly by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Michael Cedrick Casano and Patricia Nicole Cierva, youth activists in Cagayan, were subjected by the military to relentless psychological torture to break their spirit and will to fight for the people.”
