Rev youth groups drum up support for NPA 54th anniversary

In San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, Mindanao, members of the youth organization, Kabataan Makabayan (KM) painted several walls of the town red with the calls: “NPA 54”, “Viva CPP-NPA-NDF” and “Sampa sa NPA!” (Join the NPA). They called this action Operation “Dikit-Pinta” (Post and Paint). Their efforts form part of their build-up campaign to celebrate the 54th anniversary of the New People's Army (NPA) on 29 March 2023.

Increased NPA Tactical Operations answer to massive deployment of AFP troops in Samar

Since December 2022, more than 1000 army soldiers have been deployed to Samar province to augment the 21 battalions under the 8th Infantry Division already operating in the region. According to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the aim of this massive deployment is to “crush the four remaining guerilla fronts” of the New People’s Army (NPA), specifically in Northern Samar.

CPP urges ‘peaceful dialogue’ to resolve Ukraine war, condemns US-NATO for prolonging conflict

On February 24, 2023, the world marked one year since the start of the war in Ukraine. Demonstrations around the world condemned “US imperialists” and its NATO allies for continuing to pour weapons and military equipment to Ukraine effectively prolonging the conflict.

Groups oppose construction of 6 nuclear power plants

The Kalikasan People’s Network for the Environment condemned plans by the Marcos Jr. regime to construct six nuclear plants in the town of Labrador in Pangasinan province as exposed by the Pangasinan People’s Strike for the Environment (PPSE).

Groups call for removal of CPP, NPA, and NDF terrorist listing

Last February 8, 2023, member organizations of Bayan (New Patriotic Alliance) called for the removal of the arbitrary terrorist designation by the Anti-Terror Council of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), the New People's Army (NPA) and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP). They also called for the removal of the terrorist designation of all the NDFP consultants and activists. The organizations brought their demands to the Department of Justice.

Walk the talk on paying taxes, Marcos urged

ACT Teachers Partylist and House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro urged President Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos Jr. to “walk the talk” on payment of taxes. Castro’s statement was in response to Marcos Jr’s call for the public “to pay the correct amount of taxes on time to support the country’s economic recovery” in a speech he delivered during the launch of the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) national tax campaign in Pasay City, Philippines on 7 February 2023.
