Revolutionary forces in Southern Mindanao are intact – CPP

The Communist Party of the Philippines on 10 September denied claims by the Armed Forces of the Philippines that the revolutionary forces in Southern Mindanao is “on the brink of collapse”, declaring that “the CPP Southern Mindanao Regional Committee is intact.”

CPP sees end to corrupt, inept Duterte regime before 2022 elections

The Communist Party of the Philippines on 7 September called on the Filipino people to “take advantage of the looming political crisis” and push their democratic resistance against the corrupt, terrorist and tyrannical Duterte regime. “More and more are becoming open to the idea of ending the tyranny even before next year’s elections,” the CPP said.

CPP, NDFP Honor Comrade Gonzalo

The Communist Party of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines on 12 September issued messages expressing sympathies on the passing of Communist Party of Peru founder and leader Manuel Ruben Abimael Guzman Reynoso, who was also known as Presidente Gonzalo. He died in prison on 11 September 2021 at the age of 86.

Summary executions, aerial bombardment kill 22 revolutionary fighters

A series of large-scale combat and assassination operations by the Duterte government’s security forces in the last two weeks have killed at least 22 revolutionary fighters of the New People’s Army in central and southern Philippines. On 16 August, combined elements of the Philippine Army 5th Special Forces Battalion, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and local Philippine National Police assassinated celebrated NPA fighter and visual artist John Niebres in his home in Cannery Site village, Polomolok town in South Cotabato province.

NDFP urges probe of Eastern Samar airstrikes

The Eastern Visayas Chapter of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines on 24 August called on the Philippine Commission on Human Rights to investigate “the disproportionate use of force” by units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the airstrikes against a local unit of the New People’s Army in Dolores town, Eastern Samar province, on 16 August.

Systemic labor rights abuses found in Dinagat Nickel mines

A two-year study conducted by Amnesty International on the situation of nickel mine workers in Dinagat Islands in southern Philippines showed “systemic” labor rights abuses, including workers being employed without written contracts, delayed payment of wages, and nonpayment of employers’ contributions for their employees’ mandatory health, housing and social security benefits.

Sen. Drilon demands review of PhP 19-Billion anti-communist funds

Philippine Senate Minority Leader Sen. Franklin Drilon urged the Commission on Audit on 2 August to conduct a special audit on the PhP 19.2-billion budget of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). He said he will also ask the Senate leadership to demand that the NTF-ELCAC submit a report on how its budget was used.
