On July 10, a video released by China Daily portrays a monkey in a Filipino shirt pushed towards a karaoke stage by arms bearing the Japanese and US flags. This racist depiction of Filipinos as “monkeys without tails” echoes the racist propaganda of US imperialists in the early 1900s.

Defense secretary Gilbert Teodoro and the Philippine Coast Guard’s Jay Tarriela were quick to denounce the video that was aimed at the Marcos regime, which has continued to be subservient to US interests to provoke China and prepare for war. Marcos and his stooges do not care about the our national sovereignty, they have chosen to sell the Philippines off to the US imperialists rather than to the Chinese. They are blatant in their condemnation of the AI video, but pervasively silent in regards to Pax Silica and US bombing of Iran, which has led to immense suffering of the Filipino people.
