The Philippine-Bolivarian Venezuela Friendship Association (PBVFA) and the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) joined the Global Day of Solidarity with Venezuela and for Peace in Latin America on August 31. The expression of solidarity was made in the midst of the U.S. disinformation campaign  accusing the country of being involved in illegal drug trafficking.

The PBVFA laughs off such incredible basis to justify the deployment of the U.S. of warships and marines off the Venezuelan coast. BAYAN declared that “The recent deployment of U.S. warships in the Carribean, under the pretext for regime change in Venezuela”.

“The U.S. has been punishing the Venezuelan people by imposing economic sanctions and blockades that prevents the access to basic necessities like food, medicines and social services, which result in social crisis forcing many to go abroad, and become target and victims of fascist and imperialist immigration policies of the U.S.”, declared the PBVFA.

It is clear that the U.S. deployment against Venezuela is merely the latest of the numerous schemes for regime change, according to BAYAN. “This intensification is infuriating, it is clear that is vengeance against the firm resistance of Venezuelans against the intervention and aggression of the U.S., that results in plunder, fascist terror, infringement on national sovereignty and using the people as cannon fodder in proxy wars in many countries in the world.”

According to the National Democratic Front of the Philippines: “The history of the Americas is marked by repeated U.S. interventions in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, and Panama. In every case, the peoples have resisted. Today, Venezuela continues this legacy of resistance.

The US has a long record of failed attempts to overthrow sovereign governments. In Cuba, more than sixty years of blockade, invasion, sabotage, and terrorism have failed to break the Cuban Revolution. In Venezuela, from the 2002 coup against President Hugo Chávez, to the 2019 Guaidó farce, to endless sanctions and covert plots, the people have defended their Bolivarian Revolution with courage and dignity. Despite constant aggression, the US has failed to crush their sovereignty.”

“By deploying warships into the Caribbean, the U.S. seeks to transform these seas into another battlefront. The Filipino people know this playbook well. Like Venezuela, the Philippines has endured U.S. domination, from colonial conquest to the continuing presence of U.S. troops, bases, and war exercises on our soil. Both our peoples have been targeted because of its strategic value to US imperialist interests in both regions. The same imperialist system that blockades Venezuela also imposes neo-liberal policies, militarization, and repression in the Philippines. Our struggles are linked  by our common enemy and our shared determination to fight for genuine freedom.”, declared the NDFP.

“The NDFP stands firmly with the Venezuelan people and government, and calls on all anti-imperialist movements, trade unions, student federations, women’s organizations, and revolutionary parties across the globe to unite in defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty and to expose US aggression as naked plunder,” the NDFP stated.
