Philippine revolutionary forces joined the Filipino people and the rest of the world on 25 February in commemorating the 36th anniversary of the Filipino people’s uprising which toppled the US-Marcos fascist dictatorship in 1986. We remember all the martyrs and heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice in waging various forms of struggle, even during the darkest nights of Marcos’ tyrannical rule. Their valiant resistance culminated in the 1986 people’s uprising and resulted in broader freedoms for expression, organizing and mobilization.

Bloody forecast for the May 2022 elections

The race is on! The campaign period for the 9 May national elections kicked off on 8 February to gaudy and flamboyant proclamation rallies. President Rodrigo Duterte is illegible for reelection, under Philippine laws, but the entire election campaign is focused on the tyrant nonetheless. Vying to rule the Manila government are Duterte proxies, Duterte aspirants and those who, for the time being, vow to reverse the tyrant’s traitorous, murderous and larcenous legacy.

Empowering state terror in the Philippines

Volume IV, Number 2. 31 January 2022.

Two weeks ago, the government of President Rodrigo Duterte received six T129B attack helicopters from Turkey, the first batch of military equipment worth a total of PhP13.7 billion. In December 2021, the Duterte regime also acquired two batteries of self-propelled Soltam ATMOS 155mm howitzers worth PhP2.4 billion from Israel.

A pattern of war crimes and crimes against humanity

On Christmas Eve, 24 December 2021, New People’s Army comrades Menandro Villanueva and Sandra Reyes were captured alive by elements of the Armed Forces of the Philippines after a gunbattle in Mabini town, Davao de Oro, in southern Philippines. At the time of his capture, Comrade Menandro was the National Commander of the NPA and a member of the Central Committee and Political Bureau of the Communist Party of the Philippines.

Weather the storms, gain greater victories in 2022

Volume III, Number 24. 31 December 2021.

It is extremely saddening to receive reports that more than 400 have died, several hundreds have been injured and at least 60 more are missing from the destructive effects of super typhoon Odette (Rai). Millions of Filipinos, mostly poor fishers, peasants and farmworkers, have lost their homes, properties and livelihood. The Duterte government estimates damages to infrastructure at US$326.35 million and to agriculture at US$77.53 million.
