NPA units mount series of successful tactical offensives

The New People’s Army (NPA) recently mounted a series of tactical offensives in different Philippine provinces. Red fighters of NPA-Quezon under the Apolonio Mendoza Command ambushed a 30-strong unit of the 85th IB in Doña Aurora, Calauag, Quezon, last 25 March. This is just a few days before the latest “deadline” (the end of March 2024), declared by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to defeat the units of the NPA in all the guerilla fronts.

Another Filipino activist detained, deported by Marcos Jr. regime

Marikit Saturay, a young Filipino migrant, was returning to the Philippines last March 7, 2024 to join the celebrations of her grandmother’s 100th birthday.. When she arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, she was stopped, questioned and then denied entry by Immigration officers. She was questioned about her supposed involvement in “anti-government” activities which is why she has been put on the Philippine immigration’s so-called “Black List Order.”

On 26th year of CARHRIHL, NDFP calls out GRP’s mounting IHL violations

On the 26th year of signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL), the National Democratic Front of the Philippines International Office (NDFP IO) called out Marcos Jr’s “mounting cases of violations of international humanitarian law.”

Marcos Jr.’s Germany visit met with militant protests

Protests met Marcos Jr. as he visited Germany last 12 March.
“It is wrong to welcome this Marcos junket, the main purpose of which is to deodorize the stinking image of Marcos and his family in the international community,” according to the BAYAN-Europe, which organized the protests together with Alpas Pilipinas, Gabriela-Germany and German solidarity organizations.

CPP: Maco landslides a result of destructive imperialist mining

More than 100 people, mostly mining workers, were killed last February 6 in a landslide disaster in a mining community in Maco, Davao de Oro (formerly Compostela Valley). This incident is the latest in a number of similar tragedies in the province which is one of the country’s biggest mining centers. The landslide occurred in Barangay Masara which is part of the area of mining operations of the Apex Mining Company, a company owned by Marcos crony Enrique Razon, one of the biggest bourgeois compradors and among the top billionaires, according to a statement by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).

Groundswell of opposition mount vs Charter Change

The Philippines’ opposition movement gathered by the thousands across cities on 25 February to protest against Marcos Jr’s plans to amend the Constitution, using the 38th anniversary celebrations of the people’s uprising that ousted his father in 1986 to rally support.

Greens senator protest Marcos appearance in Australian Parliament

Greens Australian Senator Janet Rice raised a placard with the slogan “Stop human rights abuses” while Marcos Jr was speaking in front of the Australian members of parliament last 29 February. At the same time, Filipino and Australian groups staged a protest rally outside the chamber.
