The memory of Ka Oris will live forever

The Communist Party of the Philippines, all revolutionary forces and friends of the revolutionary movement are deeply saddened by the death of Ka Oris, Comrade Jorge Madlos. The Filipino people, especially the countless peasants and Lumad people whom Ka Oris personally encountered in more than five decades of revolutionary service, feel a deep sense of loss with Ka Oris’ death, but at the same time, are enraged over how he was killed by the cowardly and dishonorable fascists.

Try following the trail of public funds in the Duterte government. Billions of pesos traverse expansive multi-lane highways leading to the pockets – or secret overseas bank accounts – of President Rodrigo Duterte, his cronies and the highest government officials. Meanwhile, some pesos and cents trudge narrow muddy roads to eventually trickle into the country’s derelict educational system, healthcare, agricultural sector and social services.

Global spotlights on the Duterte fascist regime

The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced on 8 October the awarding of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to Philippine journalist Maria Ressa and Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov, “for their courageous fight for freedom of expression in the Philippines and Russia”. According to the Committee, they represent “all journalists who stand up for this ideal in a world in which democracy and freedom of the press face increasingly adverse conditions”.

Remembering the horrors of Martial Law

Volume III, Number 18. 30 September 2021.

We join the Filipino people and the rest of the world in commemorating the 49th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines on 21 September 1972. We must never forget this horrific period in Philippine history when Ferdinand Marcos, with the full backing of the US, grabbed absolute power, abolished Congress, banned political parties, shuttered the mass media, prohibited mass activities and suspended civil and political rights.

US imperialism is the world’s number one terrorist

The Filipino people join the American people in remembering the thousands who perished in the deadly acts of terrorism in the United States on September 11th 2001. We reaffirm our condemnation of those acts of terrorism which unleashed violence aimed at countless civilian lives.
